c.1960 Marx Mechanical Dumbo Disney Carousel In Original Box
Pristine example of Marx's, Mechanical (Dumbo) Disney Merry-Go-Round complete wth original box. Very tough Disney to find it's in near mint condition and works great! Comes with original instruction sheet and accessory key. Wind-up clockwork toy is primarily tin litho. Circular track base and canopy/Dumbo supports are plastic. Winds up using either the attached canopy key, or accessory key with canopy removed (see below). One of the Dumbo's has an attached lead weight which strikes the seven keys, producing a jingling sound as it revolves. As it turns the canopy above rotates in the opposite direction. Extremely colorful toy features three figural Dumbo's with movable ears and rubber tails (all original). The white center base is lithoed with the 3 Little Pigs. The embossed green and teal canopy has Goofy, Mickey, and Donald with birds and flowers. The toy is marked on the underside only with a small sticker. It includes the Marx name and trademark, Disney copyright (Walt Disney Productions), and Japan. The plain cardboard box is printed with the toy name, catalog number and "Made in Japan" on two panels. The original instructions were printed with schematic showing wind-up using either the canopy or accessory key (also included). Size: 6¾ tall, 7¾ diameter. Date Sold: Nov. 2010
